Bicycle...I wanted one!

After I came home from my creative therapy, and after I walked the dog, I went on a serious hunt for a good second hand bicycle, not knowing, but suspecting, how expensive a good one would be. I was willing to part with some money as long as I got a good bike out of it. I did this hunt on foot, because I figured I would find a bike and want to ride it home.

I did quite a bit of walking and finally found the right bike at the Bike Shop at the train station. It was a very good bike, a three speed with hand brakes and a good brand name and it was in great condition. The only problem was the price, I didn't have enough money in my bank account to pay for it and I wasn't sure if I wanted to, so I walked all the way home, feeling kind of bummed out and having sore feet from all the walking.

Once I got home, I called Eduard and discussed it with him and we weighed the pros and cons and I finally decided that it was too good a deal not to take advantage off. So I did some Internet banking and transferred some money into my bank account and took the bus back to the Bike Shop, where luckily the bike still stood waiting for me.

I quickly paid for it and had them lower the seat just a bit and rode off on it (into the sunset, I want to say). It's a nice bike and I'm glad I bought it and I'm saving my old bike for my daughter, because it is a special nostalgic model that is hard to get second hand and she wants one. She can get it repaired when she is here this winter and have it shipped to the States. It had been her wish to do so.

I'm much poorer now, but I have a dependable bike and it's really nice that it's a three speed, as it's so much easier to go uphill. I never knew it would make so much difference. I've parked it in the hallway, as I don't want to leave it outside, even though it has a lock on it. Someone would be too tempted to steal it.

Needless to stay, I haven't done a bloody thing all afternoon from the consternation of it all. It's like going out and buying a new car and I still have to put the bags on the back, I'm going to do that later tonight, so I will be already to grocery shop.

That leaves me with an undusted, unvacuumed, and unmopped apartment. Oh well, tomorrow is another day.

I made a very ugly sculpture at creative therapy and on Friday I'm going to take the whole thing and demolish it. I do know when something is turning out well and this is not turning out well. I started to sculpt before I was ready to and nothing's come of it. The whole thing looks absolutely ridiculous and I can't wait to put it out of its misery. It will feel very good.

I will go back to making doodles and collages and not try to sculpt. Unless I've lost the gift to make them as well and then I'm really screwed and I will have to think of something new to do.

I ate three cookies today and I had two glasses of fruit juice. I just forgot to eat and will make myself a slice of bread with luncheon meat in a while. It's all the excitement of owning a new bike, you see. I just remembered that I bought eggs and I will fix myself a scrambled egg. That will be a treat. If I fix two, I can share with Jesker.

Alright, that's all I have to report for today. It's enough I think. I have to go and take Jesker for his walk and then eat and watch some TV and try to slow down a bit.

Have yourself a good evening, I will try to do the same.

Ciao...

A good dependable bike will make all the difference to your journeys. Sounds like that particular bike was just waiting for you.

I'm glad your daughter is taking your old bike. That's lovely:-)

You made me think, for far too long!

Is art only good if the artist who created it thinks it's good?

What if da Vinci looked at Mona Lisa and thought "Nah, that's crap," and threw it out with the rubbish?

Is the Mona Lisa good because it's good, or because it's famous?

(I don't actually like it much, although I can see his talent.)

I think you're too hard on yourself. x

Congratulations on the new bike! Hope you have many happy outings on it. At least you don't have the hills that we have. I live in a very hilly place!

Have a really good dream about all the places you will visit! X

I'm all for anything that makes life easier in small ways. I am glad to hear about the new bike, because you'd already fallen over, and I didn't want that to happen again. Already the hills are easier.

A new bike without funky peddles...you have entered Euphoria.
Your old bike will have a new home where it will be loved as much as you loved it. How wonderful.

My sister gets on to me when I paint over a canvas. She says I need to keep the things I do not like to document my journey.

Wow! A new bike!!! That makes me so happy.

Congratulations! You really did need something dependable; I sure didn't want to read you getting hurt on that old one coming home loaded down with groceries one day...

You desrve a dependable bike and if it is going to be your main mode of transportation, it should be easy to ride. Those old Dutch bikes do look pretty cool, though, so am glad your daughter will keep it.

Who could be poor if she has such a beautiful and good working bike?! You are rich, when you still have money to send your nostalgic bike to your daughter! Who needs more?!

Well, good on you! For the great bicycle score and for knowing when it's time to let a piece of art go. I've torn or somehow destroyed many paintings before now:) You will always find some one who will tell you not to give up...to put it away for a while.. but personally I think it's good to be released from the burden of an artwork that just isn't right...knowing when that is, is something the artist can tell!

My 2cents worth anyway:)
