Going, going, gone.

Today at 1 pm I will be in the airplane ready to take off. I have my suitcase packed and that was a bit of an effort because I am going back with more bulky things than I arrived with. I will probably have to sit on the suitcase in order to get it closed and I am not that heavy. I may get my ex to do the honors and then hope I have not forgotten to put anything in.

During my stay here, I have gotten hooked on very large Coca Colas with lots of crushed ice in them which I make last for a couple of hours. I found that they do a great job at quenching my thirst and provide me with some caffeine at the same time. I almost like them better than a cup of coffee although I still need those every once in a while to for that extra perk and a little bit of warmth. These two beverages combined do not keep me from a good night's sleep and that is my main concern. I am sleeping like the proverbial baby.

Yesterday evening, the three of us went to the movies but instead of seeing something serious like "Les Miserables", we opted for something completely different and saw "This is Forty" instead and it was very well done and most enjoyable. Even if, like my ex and me, you were not anywhere near your forties. There was good acting and lots of emotional ups and downs and no boring moments. And interaction from the public, including from me.

We went out to eat afterwards and, because it was New Year's Day, there were not a lot of places open but we found a Mom and Pop Italian restaurant where we had a very decent meal from which I am still full this morning. I had the Manicotti and ate almost the whole helping without any problems after I also ate most of my salad and a piece of garlic bread. How's that for small miracles? My ex and my daughter had to take their left overs home in doggy bags because they had filled themselves up with popcorn in the movie theater. I did not make that mistake and only had M&Ms which I had not had in 20 years.

It will be good to be home again and continue this streak of good fortune. I have not had any pain in my neck since I  have been here and the state of my stomach has improved dramatically. I think a lot of subconscious stress has fallen of my shoulders. My next post will be from the comfort of my cozy living room, not that the place at this breakfast bar has not been an excellent place to post from.

How wonderful that everything went so well on this holiday. I am so pleased for you and hope you don't arrive back too jet lagged.
You will be pleased to see Tyke again and Gandhi.

What a great trip you've had! You've done so very many things and it sounds like everything went so very well. I wish you a safe trip home - and a suitcase that closes properly!

A movie and Italian food? That's a great finish!
