Six Sixes.

Before I do anything, I have to direct you to the compilation of my Six Sixes that was published earlier this month on Six Sentences when I had no Internet access. They are six short stories consisting of six sentences each and I am mighty proud of them, so please take the time to visit and read them. The format in which they are presented is really nice and it makes for fun reading, because you get to turn the pages. Just follow the instructions.

As is usual, I am sitting here having my morning coffee, but black this time, because I ran out of milk last night and because it was raining, I didn't make it to the store. It isn't too bad black, but I am going to like it all the more when I get my hands on some milk and drink it properly the way I am used to. I used to drink my coffee black all the time, but since I am back in the Netherlands, I have started using milk again, because the coffee here is a lot stronger than it was in the States.

Today is Inauguration Day and I tell you, if there is a time when I do want to believe in God, it is when I think of Barack Obama. Every time he makes a speech and says, "Thank you America and God bless you," I say out loud, "No, God bless you, Barack Obama." I am so afraid that that man is going to be assassinated and today would be the day for it, of course. The proceedings are going to be on television at six PM our time and I am going to watch them. As a matter of fact, I think he gets sworn in at one minute before six PM, so I'll have to start watching sooner.

I have been reading my head off on the Google reader, but I have no intention of catching up on everything, of course. There are so many unread posts. I read as many of the latest ones as I can to be up to date as much as possible. It is a fun activity and it is also fun to comment on my favorite blogs. It's nice to see that everyone is so consistent and that almost nobody has suddenly changed styles or moods or themes. Whereas I have been known to do so myself.

I have neglected my other website and must make it over there today to change the image and the name. I hope I can come up with something good. The page on which I have the best names has been used as a coaster for my coffee mug and many coffee rings cover it. Some of them are barely readable. Sloppy me.

I'll now go and take my medicines and do all the other early morning chores. Life's tough that way.

Ciao...

Everyone is expecting so much from Obama and I certainly wouldn't like to be in his shoes, trying to fulfill everyone's wishes & expectations. I will be working at the time of his inauguration and I sincerely hope all goes well. It is a worry. How do you keep man like that safe every moment?
Running late today, hope you have a good, warm day.

We've got Tivo set to record two different channels tomorrow. I don't want to hear commentators, I just want to hear what's happening.

What a historic day!

In a way I feel sorry for Obama with everyone having such massive expectations of him. That surely can't be easy. But then, he wouldn't be where he is today if he liked "easy" I guess.
He won't be able to turn everything around in 4 years, that's for sure. Nobody could. But the fact that he's giving people hope is a big achievement in its own.

Anyways, hope you have a good day today!

I can't wait to read your six sixes, which I will do next. I am, as you are, worried for Barack Obama, but he is such a strong mand and I have to have faith in his security. So yes, God Bless Barack today and always as our newest president and God Bless America as well.

It certainly would be a tragedy if he was assassinated. Let's hope it doesn't come to pass LOL

I certainly will peruse your Six Sentences and leave comments where I feel it appropriate.

Obama is like a breath of fresh air. We can only wish him well and hope for the best.

Your short stories are excellent. I left a comment on the site. The one entitled A Good Man reminded me of someone, can't think who. I didn't read too much into it, did I?

Hey mom, I watched the inauguration live on CNN and all the while received thrilled texts from friends also watching live. There have been many tears of joy today, and despite your fears, I think President Obama (feels so good to say that!) will be safe and sound. I don't pray, but I'm ready to pray for that! Glad to see you're back online... xo your kid

So nice to see you around again - your wit, perspective and honesty.

I watched the inaugeration today and Obama made a great speech and I felt a glimmer of a new vision a more world vision. There were the sixties and so much died with yuppies anf bmw's and now I think maybe this child of the sixties can find answers and lead us on a road less travelled.

Good to see you, my friend...

It was quite a day, eh? One we shall all remember. I watched at work, even though for awhile, even CNN.com couldn't handle the load.

A very belated welcome back to the land of the Internet from me, Sweet Irene.

I just read your six sixes that you linked to here. OMG! I love your writing. Of course, I always loved it here, but the sixes are amazing. Have you thought about writing more?

I can't pick which is my favorite, but I did relate most to The Good Man. All the stories -- and even though just six lines they are stories -- draw you in from the first line and keep you there happily until the last. And that's the only problem: they end so quickly!

You are very talented, Irene. Additionally, it's rare for a writer to be so good in a second language. You are awesome.

Debi - thank you so much for your kind comments on the Six Sixes. I really appreciate them. I am planning on writing more Sixes and already have had some published in the past. I am waiting for inspiration and time.
