I'm fairly useless at small talk too - but I'd probably be quite a bit better at it after a drink or two! Which is the purpose of alcohol at these dos anyway.

I think actually that I'm better at socialising like that since I had a breakdown because I feel less pressure to be in control of anything. I just let things happen more and don't feel I have to take the lead.

Lovely about the doggy!

Best wishes,
Bearfriend xxFriend of the Bearhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01338137165061207438noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9076712181904223864.post-77720070164053742652009-12-07T22:04:32.095+01:002009-12-07T22:04:32.095+01:00I'm with you on the small talk and party thing...I'm with you on the small talk and party thing. Though I find it easier to start a conversation with someone I've never met because you can ask any munber of questions. Sometimes, being at a party with people you only ever chitchat with can be intimidating if you don't know them well, but have known them for years.
I'm much better one on one or in a small group (of three or four!)VioletSkyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10222821877918680480noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9076712181904223864.post-81740655054296578012009-12-07T12:09:42.364+01:002009-12-07T12:09:42.364+01:00Yes, I love the image of Jesker doing the rounds a...Yes, I love the image of Jesker doing the rounds and being good at small talk! I think most of us aren't that great and comfortable at parties with people they don't know that well. It's just that some people are good at covering it up!

Glad you had a good time.

Oh, and if you wore your glasses you might be able to see the clock on the computer. Just saying... ;-)Babaloohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11453252897926773386noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9076712181904223864.post-58908221730922303132009-12-07T09:37:50.172+01:002009-12-07T09:37:50.172+01:00The party sounds fun. Although at parties I suppose they make for a focus of attention which is good for us 'not good at parties' types:-)

Like your new template.Lane Mathiashttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08147122748453850264noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9076712181904223864.post-8745535040175143422009-12-07T05:45:27.903+01:002009-12-07T05:45:27.903+01:00I'm like you, GSW, only good with people I kno...I'm like you, GSW, only good with people I know very well but really poor at talking to casuals, I'm too self aware and always checking to see if they're bored with me or looking somewhere else.
I love the Jesker bit, Ansa does that too, does the cocktail circuit but keeps her eye on me like a good spouse.
I'm glad you got oot and aboot, does the heart good to read about it.
XO
WWWWisewebwomanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15281689872840844191noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9076712181904223864.post-17380834199400072552009-12-07T02:27:24.528+01:002009-12-07T02:27:24.528+01:00i'm glad you had a good time! and jesker, too....i'm glad you had a good time! and jesker, too. i love the image of f him trotting from group to group as though he had something to say. i bet he did, too. he sounds a lot like boscoe.

i'm not much good at small talk, either. parties are hard for me. i'm glad you went. i'm not sure i would have, though the food sounds terrific.lauriehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18055442432266567561noreply@blogger.com
